Fernando Alonso will break 22-year Michael Schumacher record with 2027 Aston Martin contract

Fernando Alonso will remain with Aston Martin through the 2027 Formula 1 season alongside teammate Lance Stroll. The Spaniard's contract extension ends months of speculation regarding his future and potential moves to other racing series like the World Endurance Championship. By continuing as teammates into 2027, Alonso and Stroll will surpass Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello's 22-year-old record for the most Grands Prix contested together by a driver pairing.

Schumacher and Barrichello set the existing benchmark of 104 Grands Prix together at Ferrari between 2000 and 2005. Alonso and Stroll, who have raced together since 2023, are expected to reach their record-breaking 105th race together during the 2027 campaign. McLaren pairing Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri could also potentially reach the milestone around the same time.
