Sam Burgess reveals ‘gold’ Wayne Bennett calls in drive to end Warrington’s 71-year drought

Warrington Wolves head coach Sam Burgess has leaned on his former mentor Wayne Bennett ahead of Saturday's Super League Grand Final against Wakefield Trinity at Old Trafford. Burgess revealed that Bennett, who has won seven NRL Grand Finals, called him following Warrington's semi-final win over Leeds Rhinos to offer valuable advice and support as the club attempts to end a 71-year league title drought.

Burgess previously played under Bennett and helped end a 43-year premiership drought with South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2014. Despite the weight of Warrington's historic wait dating back to 1955, Burgess emphasized that his team is focused on creating their own history rather than feeling burdened by the club's past.
