Nikita Kucherov is entering the final year of his contract, and it's a bit of surprise that he hasn't been extended. Should there be some concern?

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov enters the final year of his contract without an extension, prompting analysis from NHL insiders Pierre LeBrun and Elliotte Friedman. According to LeBrun, there is little concern about Kucherov's status because the star forward intends to remain in Tampa Bay rather than test free agency, with all sides confident an agreement will ultimately be reached.
However, Friedman noted on the 32 Thoughts podcast that Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois rarely lets key negotiations drag out this long. Friedman suggested the extended talks could indicate that BriseBois has set strict limits regarding the contract's term or financial figures with Kucherov's agent, Dan Milstein.
