The Baltimore Orioles asked the New York Yankees for a steep package in exchange for star catcher Adley Rutschman ahead of the trade deadline. Baltimore requested catcher Austin Wells, pitching prospect Elmer Rodríguez, outfield prospect Yostin Pena, and either Will Warren or Ryan Weathers. The Yankees declined to meet the asking price before an early deadline imposed by the Orioles.
