He’s one of Wakefield Trinity’s star players, but he could have lined up for their Grand Final opponents had things worked out differently.

Wakefield Trinity forward Caius Faatili has revealed that Grand Final opponents Warrington Wolves previously expressed interest in signing him before his move to England. Ahead of Saturday's Super League Grand Final, Faatili explained that his agent held discussions with Warrington in 2024 prior to him joining Wakefield from Queensland Cup side Sunshine Coast Falcons in 2025.
Faatili credited an overseas quota rule change with enabling Wakefield to recruit young Australian talent, including teammates Ky Rodwell, Isaiah Vagana, and Caleb Hamlin-Uele. The upcoming appearance marks a rapid rise for Faatili, who was working part-time less than two years ago before securing his first full-time contract with Trinity.
