Arizona State has placed head hockey coach Greg Powers on administrative leave following requests from players after the hospitalization of St. Louis Blues prospect Matthew Mayich. The 21-year-old collapsed on August 20 during an outdoor workout conducted in temperatures near 90 degrees Fahrenheit and has remained hospitalized since.

Seven players sent a 26-page letter to ASU president Michael Crow via attorney Tim Casey, alleging Mayich was denied water and given inadequate medical care. Assistant coach Mike Corbett will step in to lead the Sun Devils while Powers remains on leave.
