After much debate, an injury to Joonas Korpisalo has Dylan Garand in the backup role with the Rangers.
The New York Rangers have placed goaltender Joonas Korpisalo on injured reserve and recalled Dylan Garand to the NHL roster. Korpisalo is considered week-to-week due to a lower-body injury, despite not having appeared in a regular-season game yet this season.
It remains unclear when Korpisalo suffered the injury, as no issues were reported during Wednesday's practice or Tuesday's game in Boston. With the Rangers facing a back-to-back set against the Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings, Garand could see playing time in goal.
