The New York Rangers placed backup goaltender Joonas Korpisalo on injured reserve with a week-to-week lower-body injury and recalled Dylan Garand from the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack. The roster moves occurred on Thursday ahead of the Rangers' regular-season home opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Madison Square Garden.
Garand, who cleared waivers three days prior, could potentially start Friday night against the Detroit Red Wings. Following the transactions, the Rangers have approximately $452,000 in available salary cap space, according to PuckPedia.
