Pro-Palestine protests twice interrupted play at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin as the Republic of Ireland surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Austria in the Nations League. Troy Parrott scored a brilliant solo opener and converted a penalty to put Heimir Hallgrímsson's side ahead. However, Austria mounted a second-half comeback with goals from substitutes Alexander Prass and Michael Gregoritsch.
Play was halted in the first half after tennis balls marked with Palestinian flags were thrown onto the pitch, followed by a pitch invader carrying a Palestinian flag. Demonstrations had also taken place outside the stadium amid controversy surrounding Ireland's scheduled fixtures against Israel. The draw leaves the Republic of Ireland third in Nations League Group B3 behind Austria and Kosovo.
