The San Jose Sharks have decided to make 20-year-old defenseman Sam Dickinson a healthy scratch for their 2026/27 season opener against the Florida Panthers. Dickinson, who was selected No. 11 overall in the NHL draft, played 72 games for San Jose in the 2025/26 season. Reporter Max Miller reports that the young blueliner is staying ready despite being left out of the lineup.
San Jose opted instead to start left-handed defensemen Darnell Nurse, Nolan Allan, and Dmitry Orlov for the opener.
