Red Wings Expecting a Different MBN This Season

The Detroit Red Wings expect forward Michael Brandsegg-Nygard to significantly improve his goal-scoring output in the upcoming NHL season. While the team praised his physical presence and forechecking during a 14-game stint where he recorded only one assist, head coach Todd McLellan emphasized that the Red Wings need him to score, particularly in the absence of captain Dylan Larkin.

Brandsegg-Nygard developed his game in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins during the 2025-26 season, tallying 20 goals and 44 points across 60 games. Grand Rapids head coach Dan Watson highlighted him as their top playoff performer, and the young winger expressed confidence in making a permanent NHL impact.
