Connor McDavid recorded a goal and four assists to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a wild 9-7 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. Evan Bouchard added a goal and two assists, while Leon Draisaitl scored twice for Edmonton. Vancouver's offence was led by Marco Rossi with two goals and an assist, alongside a three-point effort from Elias Pettersson.
Bouchard became the first defenseman in NHL history to record eight points through his team's first two games of the season. Edmonton built a commanding 8-2 lead midway through the second period, highlighted by short-handed breakaway goals from McDavid and Kasperi Kapanen just 34 seconds apart, before withstanding a late Vancouver third-period comeback surge.
