Detroit Lions cornerback and former second-round pick Ennis Rakestraw Jr. reflected on losing development time to early career injuries, admitting he still feels like a rookie. Rakestraw played only 46 snaps as a rookie due to hamstring problems and missed the entire 2025 season following shoulder surgery, but he is now healthy and earning more opportunities on the field.
Following a strong performance against the Jets in Week 3, head coach Dan Campbell confirmed Rakestraw will see more playing time moving forward. Rakestraw played on the outside during nickel packages, earning the highest coverage grade among Detroit's rotational cornerbacks as the team looks to expand his role.
