NASCAR rumors suggest a new O’Reilly Series car could arrive around 2028, with single-lug wheels also reportedly under consideration.

NASCAR garage rumors suggest that the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series could introduce a new generation of car around 2028. Alongside a potential redesign, discussions have surfaced regarding a possible switch from the traditional five-lug wheel setup to a single center-locking lug system. Neither change has been officially confirmed by NASCAR.
Veteran crew chief and Spire Motorsports competition director Kevin "Bono" Manion mentioned rumors of the single-lug transition on the Door Bumper Clear podcast, noting potential inclusion for the Craftsman Truck Series as well. Meanwhile, NASCAR executive vice president John Probst previously stated that research into CUV concepts does not mean such vehicles have been approved.
