Kyle Connor’s record-setting goal and Tyrel Bauer’s spirited debut headlined a chaotic home opener fueled by Skinner’s arrival, until Elias Lindholm and JJ Peterka snatched a late victory.

The Boston Bruins defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 in overtime on Friday night during Winnipeg's season opener. JJ Peterka scored the game-winning goal five-hole against goaltender Stuart Skinner with 1:39 remaining in the extra period. Elias Lindholm had forced overtime for Boston by deflecting David Pastrnak's pass into the net with just 1:38 left in regulation.
Winnipeg's goals came from Dylan DeMelo, Kyle Connor, and Mario Ferraro, while Hampus Lindholm and James Hagens also scored for Boston. Connor's power-play marker extended his NHL record by scoring in nine consecutive season-opening games. Boston goaltender Jeremy Swayman stopped 30 shots, while Skinner recorded 26 saves for Winnipeg.
