Aston Villa captain John McGinn discusses his detractors while on international duty with Scotland

Aston Villa captain John McGinn has addressed criticism regarding his form and place in the Scotland national team ahead of a match against North Macedonia. The 31-year-old midfielder acknowledged that his starting status has been questioned following an underwhelming World Cup and a slow start to the Nations League campaign.
McGinn explained that experience has helped him manage scrutiny, noting that he avoids negative social media and media reactions after poor results. He also cited earlier difficulties with Aston Villa this season, maintaining that he retains the inner self-belief needed to navigate challenging periods for club and country.
