Jacob Shaffelburg scored two first-half goals to lead Canada to a 2-0 friendly victory over Peru on Saturday at Stade Saputo in Montreal. Shaffelburg struck in the 19th minute and added a second finish less than 15 minutes later, both assisted by Liam Millar crosses. Goalkeeper Owen Goodman kept a clean sheet in his senior international debut without needing to make a save.
Canada manager Jesse Marsch utilized an agreed allowance of 11 substitutions, heavily rotating the squad around the hour mark. Veteran midfielder Samuel Piette made his 70th international appearance to a standing ovation in his home province, while Justin Smith, Luca Petrasso, and Richard Chukwu also earned minutes. Canada next faces the United States on Tuesday in Minnesota.
