Grant has a player option for the 2028 season he has to decide to take up.

Melbourne Storm hooker Harry Grant will reportedly not negotiate with the Perth Bears if he enters the open market ahead of the 2028 season. Grant's management reportedly informed the Storm that he is likely to decline a contract option by November 1 to test free agency. However, Grant has ruled out the Bears to avoid competing with close friend Tyran Wishart at dummy-half.
Despite the prospect of Grant testing the market, the Melbourne Storm remain confident in retaining him. Club chairman Matt Tripp expressed optimism about convincing Grant to activate his option and commit to a new long-term contract extension.
