Yankees ace threw career-high 32 curveballs in AL Wild Card Series

New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler has added an evolved power curveball to his dominant fastball arsenal ahead of Game 2 of the ALDS against the Tampa Bay Rays. Schlittler threw a career-high 32 curveballs during Game 1 of the Wild Card Series against the Boston Red Sox, generating eight whiffs and four of his 10 strikeouts.
The 25-year-old primarily relied on fastballs 89.2% of the time during the regular season, but his improved curveball mirrors his four-seam spin to create deceptive movement. The curveball presents a significant challenge for the Rays, who rank among the league's worst-hitting teams against breaking pitches.
