India head coach Gautam Gambhir has explained his conversation with 15-year-old batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi regarding his exclusion from the T20I playing XI. Gambhir spoke directly to the youngster to explain that he must wait for his opportunity despite his strong domestic and franchise form, as India decided to retain their established opening pair.
Gambhir stated that team management prioritized continuity and dressing room security by sticking with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. He noted that dropping players after brief slumps sends the wrong message, emphasizing that selections are determined by team needs rather than outside social media noise.
