Burnley Women slip into relegation zone with another defeat

Burnley Women dropped into the relegation zone after suffering a 2-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Jackie Bachteler's side remains winless in their inaugural Women's Super League 2 campaign, having secured just two points from their opening five matches. Forest forward Tuva Espas scored both goals for the hosts, netting the opener shortly before half-time and sealing the win with a close-range finish 18 minutes from time.
The result leaves Burnley in 11th place in the 12-team table, having scored only one goal so far this season. Despite late attacking efforts from substitutes Leah Galton and Thea Paul, the Clarets were unable to mount a comeback. Following the international break, Burnley will look to reset when they host Durham in the Subway Players Cup on October 18.
