The Magpies and their Premier League rivals potentially missed out on merit payment cash due to City's inflated status

Newcastle United could be owed almost £27 million in compensation following Manchester City being found guilty of breaching Premier League financial regulations. Following an analysis by data specialists at OLBG, Newcastle's merit payments between the 2011/12 and 2025/26 seasons would increase from £298,468,260 to an adjusted total with Manchester City removed from the league standings.
Manchester City accumulated £556,883,928 in merit payments across the evaluated period. Newcastle United and their PIF owners are monitoring the appeal process, while potential penalties for City could range from financial sanctions to significant points deductions.
