The Atlanta Dream defeated the New York Liberty 92-82 in Game 1 of the WNBA semifinals. New York committed 21 turnovers that directly led to 32 points for Atlanta, severely undermining their offense despite the Dream's Allisha Gray leaving early due to an injury. Lucas Kaplan highlights that Jordin Canada led Atlanta with 25 points, four assists, and five steals while shooting 4-of-6 from three-point range.
Kaplan argues that the Liberty struggled heavily with transition play, running fastbreaks on only 8% of possessions. Sabrina Ionescu acknowledged after the game that she needs to find ways to involve Jonquel Jones more in the offense. Looking ahead to Game 2, Kaplan still predicts the Liberty will win the series, noting New York's competitive halfcourt defense and potential adjustments.
