Eight other teams are still vying for a World Series victory, but in Phillies world it’s all about 2027 and beyond. Thankfully for morose fans, there are a few interesting tidbits that came out recently.

Philadelphia Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski is expected to receive a contract extension from managing partner John Middleton in the coming weeks, according to The Athletic's Matt Gelb. Despite roster criticism following the team's season-ending playoff exit, Dombrowski is poised to remain in charge before potentially handing over duties to general manager Preston Mattingly in the future.
Elsewhere, shortstop Trea Turner shouldered personal blame for the team's offensive struggles after batting to a career-worst .675 OPS. Meanwhile, former Phillies reliever Seth Johnson underwent left knee surgery following his midseason trade to the Athletics.
