Key Things to Know
  • Alex Church argues Blaze Alexander emerged as one of Baltimore's best hitters in the 2026 first half.
  • Alexander hit .365 in May and .359 in June after starting the season batting .177.
  • A fractured hand in July and later back spasms limited Alexander's availability down the stretch.
The Story in 60 Seconds

Camden Chat's Alex Church writes that Blaze Alexander developed into one of the Baltimore Orioles' top offensive contributors during the first half of the 2026 season. After being acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks alongside multiple injuries to Jordan Westburg and Jackson Holliday, Alexander overcame a slow April to post exceptional batting averages exceeding .350 across May, June, and early July.

Alexander's breakout campaign was interrupted in July when a pitch broke his left hand, and his season concluded early due to back spasms. Church argues that while matching this production in 2027 may be difficult, Alexander's offensive surge and defensive versatility provide Baltimore with valuable roster flexibility through 2031.
