Cristiano Ronaldo may not return to the Portugal national team while Jorge Jesus is coach, following a dispute over playing time and public comments.

Cristiano Ronaldo will reportedly not return to the Portugal national team as long as head coach Jorge Jesus remains in charge. The 41-year-old forward recently walked out of the national team camp following a dispute over playing time after being benched against Norway. According to CNN Portugal journalist Rui Santos, Ronaldo felt disappointed by Jesus' subsequent public remarks and no longer trusts the manager.
While Jesus publicly maintained that Ronaldo is welcome back and can dictate his own exit, Santos reported that Ronaldo views the comments as contradictory. Meanwhile, Daniel Onguko notes that Portugal has won all four opening matches under Jesus, making a coaching change to appease Ronaldo appear unlikely as the team targets Nations League success.
