The Tampa Bay Lightning have placed forward Jansen Harkins on waivers, according to reports on Tuesday afternoon. Harkins, who signed with Tampa Bay this past offseason, appeared in only one of the Lightning's first three games of the season while being scratched for the other two. If he clears the 24-hour waiver process, he could be assigned to the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL.
Harkins is a second-generation NHL player whose father, Todd Harkins, played for the Calgary Flames and Hartford Whalers. Over eight NHL seasons, Jansen Harkins has recorded 18 goals and 27 assists across 306 career games with the Winnipeg Jets, Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
