Oso Ighodaro is the right choice to begin the season starting at center for the Suns, but Khaman Maluach will take that spot from him soon.

Writer Luke Duffy argues that while Oso Ighodaro deserves to start at center for the Phoenix Suns to open the season, rookie Khaman Maluach will soon take over the role. Ighodaro started in Monday's preseason matchup against the Detroit Pistons and looked comfortable, but Duffy believes Maluach's physical presence and long-term upside will quickly make him undeniable for Head Coach Jordan Ott.
The writer notes that Maluach's paint gravity against Detroit opened opportunities for teammates Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, Collin Gillespie, and Jordan Goodwin. Duffy concludes that developing a consistent three-point shot will further accelerate Maluach displacing Ighodaro.
