The New York Mets have announced that director of hitting Jeff Albert and quality assurance coach Danny Barnes will not return to the coaching staff for the 2027 season. Both coaches are permitted to explore other opportunities, though internal organizational roles remain a possibility. Most of the remaining coaching staff is projected to return under manager Andy Green for his first full season.
Albert joined the Mets organization in 2022 and moved onto the uniformed coaching staff last offseason. The changes follow an underwhelming 2026 campaign in which New York tied for 20th in scoring and ranked in the bottom third across all slash categories.
