The Diamondbacks will not retain pitching coach Brian Kaplan, reports Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. The Snakes will look elsewhere after the expiration of Kaplan’s two-year contract.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will not retain pitching coach Brian Kaplan following the expiration of his two-year contract, according to a report from Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. Kaplan, 44, joined Arizona ahead of the 2025 season to replace Brent Strom after previously serving three seasons as an assistant pitching coach with the Philadelphia Phillies.
During Kaplan's two-year tenure, the Diamondbacks registered a 4.34 ERA and struggled to generate strikeouts, ranking near the bottom of MLB in strikeout percentage. Arizona recently signed manager Torey Lovullo to a two-year extension, and further coaching staff adjustments remain to be determined.
