Martin Brundle's verdict on the farcical scenes at the start of the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.

Formula 1 commentator Martin Brundle has addressed the formation lap disruptions at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, calling the controversial choice to reset the starting grid order "smart and fair." The start was abandoned after multiple cars experienced power-delivery shutdowns in wet conditions, caused by issues with the mandatory FIA software settings when running at very low speeds.
Writing in his Sky column, Brundle explained that cars across multiple power units crawled to a halt, forcing drivers to restart their engines. Following a 40-minute delay, the FIA issued a software patch adjusting power unit operating parameters below 50 km/h, which successfully resolved the issue before the race restarted in original grid order.
