George Russell tipped to ignite extraordinary F1 title comeback with ‘fire in his eyes’

Sky Sports F1 pundit Martin Brundle believes George Russell can mount a championship comeback following his dominant Azerbaijan Grand Prix victory. Russell claimed his first career grand chelem in Baku, taking his third win of the season and narrowing Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli's standings lead to 66 points. Brundle praised Russell's determined drive and fight with Max Verstappen, stating the performance showed Russell finding an overdrive rather than being broken by his rookie teammate.

Brundle also noted that upcoming challenging tracks, including Singapore, Brazil, and Las Vegas, mean the Formula 1 drivers' title race remains far from settled. Additionally, Mercedes expects to gain approximately three-tenths of a second from an impending upgrade package for the W17 car, which Russell hopes will suit his driving preferences as the season enters its final stretch.
