Former Manchester City midfielder David Silva has officially come out of retirement at age 40 to sign with Hong Kong club Sha Tin. The Spanish playmaker announced the move via an Instagram video, expressing his excitement to experience Hong Kong's culture, food, and local football. Sha Tin confirmed that Silva will arrive soon to begin training and regain peak match fitness ahead of his debut.
Silva previously retired three years ago in 2023 after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament tear while playing for Real Sociedad. Across a glittering career, he earned 11 major trophies with Manchester City, including four Premier League titles, and won both the World Cup and European Championships with Spain.
