In advance of what many expected would be his season debut Thursday, goaltender Samuel Montembeault left practice today with an injury. In response, Montreal has recalled netminder Jacob Fowler from Laval.

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Samuel Montembeault left practice on Wednesday with an apparent right leg injury suffered while attempting to stop a rebound. Head coach Martin St. Louis stated that the netminder was undergoing evaluation. In response to the injury, Montreal recalled goaltender Jacob Fowler from the AHL's Laval Rocket.
To create roster space for Fowler, the Canadiens placed forward Ivan Demidov on injured reserve retroactive to Tuesday. Fowler could now make an early season appearance against the Nashville Predators on Thursday following struggles from Jakub Dobes.
