Flyers Not Making Progress in Dylan Larkin Trade Push
Key Things to Know
  • Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin has repeatedly declined to approve a trade to the Philadelphia Flyers.
  • Larkin requested a trade and lost his captaincy ahead of the season but holds a full no-trade clause.
  • The Flyers hold an 0-2-2 record and are the only Eastern Conference team without a win.
The Story in 60 Seconds

The Philadelphia Flyers have made no progress in their efforts to acquire Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin via trade. Larkin requested a trade and was stripped of his captaincy before the season, but NHL insider David Pagnotta reported that the forward has repeatedly turned down the Flyers as an approved destination. The Flyers currently sit at an 0-2-2 record and remain the only winless team in the Eastern Conference.

Larkin possesses a full no-trade clause and has five years remaining on his contract carrying an $8.7 million annual cap hit. While Flyers general manager Danny Briere is actively pursuing upgrades at center following an earlier failed offer sheet for Leo Carlsson, Philadelphia remains dependent on Larkin expanding his trade list as the situation develops.
