Alan Shearer points finger at Anthony Gordon and accepts Newcastle never got best of him

Alan Shearer claimed Newcastle United only ever saw a glimpse of Anthony Gordon's full potential prior to his summer departure. Gordon completed a permanent transfer to Barcelona in a deal worth up to €90 million (£76.3 million) with add-ons after spending three-and-a-half years at St James' Park.

Shearer noted Gordon clearly wanted to leave Newcastle but accepted the move, acknowledging the winger appears re-energized and happy with both Barcelona and England. Newcastle subsequently signed Bazoumana Toure and Matias Fernandez-Pardo to rebuild their attack under manager Matthias Jaissle.
