The 49ers are 4-0, but Kyle Shanahan isn't getting carried away. The head coach explains why past NFL seasons have taught him to temper expectations.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is keeping his team focused despite their 4-0 start to the 2026 NFL season. Speaking on KNBR radio after Thursday's practice, Shanahan explained that the undefeated record has not shifted his season expectations ahead of a matchup with the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.
Shanahan cited previous career experiences to illustrate how quickly early success can fade, recalling a 5-0 start in Atlanta that ended at 8-8 and an 0-4 start that finished 9-7. He emphasized that the NFL is a one-week league and that the team must focus solely on the next game.
