An otherwise positive result stained by yet another injury.
Goaltender Linus Ullmark delivered a stellar 28-save performance to guide the Ottawa Senators to a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers in their home opener. Ottawa opened the scoring with a redirected goal by Nick Cousins before Matvei Michkov equalized on a Flyers power play in the second period. Rookie Carter Yakemchuk later netted the game-winning power-play goal in the third period to seal the win.
The victory came with significant setbacks as forward William Eklund exited early with an apparent lower-body injury. Playing without injured blueliners Jake Sanderson and Artem Zub, Ottawa leaned heavily on captain Thomas Chabot, who logged over 29 minutes of ice time while Ullmark held off Philadelphia's late 6-on-5 surge.
