Ottawa Senators fans are fearing the worst following an injury to William Eklund, especially if one expert opinion is correct.

Ottawa Senators forward William Eklund exited Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers after suffering a lower-body injury in the first period. Eklund landed awkwardly along the boards following a hit by Simon Benoit and required assistance to leave the ice. While the team has not released an official update, physician Dr. Harjas Grewal suggested the injury could potentially be an ankle fracture requiring four to 12 or more weeks of recovery.
The setback adds to Ottawa's growing injury list, which already features Jake Sanderson, Artem Zub, Andre Burakovsky, and Kurtis MacDermid. With Eklund sidelined, forward Michael Amadio could see an expanded role in the Senators' top six forward group.
