The Portland Trail Blazers used their Thursday practice in Tualatin to focus on reducing turnovers following their 123-118 preseason opening win against the Golden State Warriors. Head coach Micah Nori emphasized taking care of the basketball after Portland committed 22 turnovers, which allowed Golden State to score 23 points. Nori stressed the need to make simple plays and avoid rushing.
New Blazers guard Ja Morant rated his debut a 6.5 out of 10 after recording eight points and four turnovers, noting he needs to be more decisive alongside new teammates. Meanwhile, Scoot Henderson added nine points off the bench as Portland prepared for its next exhibition game against the London Lions.
