The San Jose Sharks defeated the St. Louis Blues 3-2 in overtime to spoil their home opener on Thursday. Darnell Nurse scored the game-winning goal just over a minute into overtime, marking his first goal for San Jose. The Sharks rallied despite playing without injured forward Macklin Celebrini.
Connor McMichael opened the scoring for St. Louis in the first period before Tyler Toffoli tied the game in the second. Dillon Dube restored the Blues' lead with a short-handed goal in the third period, but Collin Graf responded with an equalizer to push the game past regulation.
