John Carlson scored two goals to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild on October 8, 2026. The win extended Tampa Bay's winning streak to three games while handing Minnesota its first regulation loss of the season. Anthony Cirelli opened the scoring for the Lightning, and goaltender Dennis Hildeby made 34 saves in his team debut to preserve the victory.
Quinn Hughes and Blake Coleman scored for Minnesota, keeping the contest close throughout the second and third periods. Carlson's second goal came on the power play following an assist from Nikita Kucherov, ending Tampa Bay's early-season power-play drought.
