Bektemir Melikuziev has urged the WBA to strip super middleweight champion Jaime Munguia of his title, accusing him of refusing their ordered mandatory bout. Melikuziev stated on Instagram that he accepted numerous concessions, including fighting on short notice, bypassing VADA testing, and taking minimal pay, yet Munguia's team continues to avoid the matchup while planning an October 31 fight against Nikita Zon.
The WBA previously gave both camps until October 21 to finalize terms. Following Melikuziev's public comments, the sanctioning body announced that it has not sanctioned Munguia's proposed bout against Zon and reiterated that Melikuziev remains the official mandatory challenger.
