By sending Jayden Struble to Nashville, Kent Hughes resolves a blue line logjam and paves the way for Kaiden Guhle to return.

The Montreal Canadiens have traded defenseman Jayden Struble to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick. Struble, who was set to become a restricted free agent after the season, recorded 35 points in 174 career games with Montreal before struggling early this season alongside partner Arber Xhekaj.
A Winning Habit writer Brandon Croce argues the permanent trade provides much-needed roster clarity for the Canadiens' defense. Adam Engstrom recently stepped into the lineup, while Kaiden Guhle is nearing a return from offseason surgery. Croce notes the extra draft capital gives General Manager Kent Hughes flexibility to explore further roster upgrades.
