Essex County Cricket Club have confirmed that batter Robin Das is no longer under contract with the team after he appeared in court on Friday over two charges of rape.
Essex County Cricket Club confirmed that batter Robin Das is no longer under contract following his court appearance regarding two rape charges. The 24-year-old was charged in July after an August 2025 arrest concerning an alleged March 2024 incident in Brixton. Das has been released on conditional bail ahead of a trial scheduled for January 2028.
Essex stated that Das's playing contract ended before the end of the 2026 season due to his suspension and resulting inability to fulfill playing commitments. The club noted the contract decision was separate from the ongoing legal proceedings, adding that they are cooperating with the ECB, PCA, and The Cricket Regulator.
