Mayank Yadav’s fast-bowling breakthrough, Gambhir’s pace-first philosophy, and evolving skills in a high-stakes T20 series.

Indian pacer Mayank Yadav took three wickets by focusing on raw pace during the second T20I against West Indies in Ranchi on October 9, 2026. After struggling with slower variations in the opening match, the 24-year-old dismissed Kamil Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, and Rovman Powell with high-speed deliveries reaching up to 149.5 kph.
India lost the match by six wickets, partly due to a dropped catch by Mayank. Head coach Gautam Gambhir praised Mayank's decision to stick to fast bowling, stating that natural speedsters bear the responsibility to bowl fast rather than overcomplicating their approach.
