The wicketkeeper-batter will link up with the touring party in Gqeberha after avoiding surgery on his fractured finger.
Josh Inglis will rejoin the Australia Test squad ahead of the second Test against South Africa in Gqeberha, scheduled for October 18-22, 2026. The wicketkeeper-batter avoided surgery on a fractured finger sustained during an ODI in Durban in late September. His availability for selection will depend on how his finger progresses during upcoming training sessions.
Australia previously called up Harper and Nic Maddinson as injury cover, with Maddinson opening in the Durban series opener. Meanwhile, all-rounder Cameron Green remains uncertain for the second match due to an abdominal injury, with head coach Andrew McDonald indicating Green is unlikely to bowl throughout the series.
