The Nuggets got creative and, so far, have been able to plug the hole left by trading Peyton Watson.

Writer David Decker argues that the Denver Nuggets have successfully filled the void left by Peyton Watson using multiple contributors. Denver traded Watson to the Cleveland Cavaliers rather than offering him a costly contract extension, receiving a 2031 first-round pick and a second-round pick in return, while also adding Cam Whitmore.
According to Decker, Watson's defensive impact is being matched by newcomer Alpha Diallo, while Julian Strawther and veteran DeMar DeRozan provide scoring punch off the bench. Decker maintains the move helped Denver avoid severe second-apron luxury tax penalties.
