So far this NHL season, the Calgary Flames are easily the worst team in the league. They have lost all of their games and have really struggled to score any goals. With this in mind, one would believe that all…

Writer Cody Misyk argues that the Calgary Flames should remove forward Maxim Tsyplakov from their lineup to prioritize giving playing time to younger prospects. After entering the NHL season without a win, the Flames have continued using veterans over developing talent, with Tsyplakov recently seen skating on a top-six line in practice.
Tsyplakov originally arrived in Calgary as part of the trade involving Simon Nemec and is currently playing in the final season of his contract, carrying an annual salary of $2.25 million. Misyk contends that the Flames' best path forward is placing Tsyplakov on waivers and assigning him to the AHL.
