Not even trading for Tarik Skubal was enough for the Atlanta Braves to be convinced to part ways with Didier Fuentes, and they are probably right.

The Atlanta Braves reportedly pursued a trade for pitcher Tarik Skubal at the deadline but refused to include right-hander Didier Fuentes in negotiations. According to a report by the Boston Globe's Peter Abraham, Atlanta made most young players available but drew the line at trading Fuentes, contributing to their failure to land the Cy Young-winning ace.
Eric Cole of House That Hank Built argues this reluctance signals Atlanta's long-term intention to return Fuentes to the starting rotation. While Fuentes was moved to the bullpen out of necessity during the season, the writer believes the Braves view him as a future starting rotation fixture.
